It’s that season again! Senior picture time! When I was a senior, I couldn’t wait to get my senior photos taken! Which was odd, because I did not like the idea of being on the other side of the camera. I also had my senior photos done the day after I shot my first wedding, and the photographer who shot mine ended up having to use my camera! My first lesson in having a back up camera! Despite the camera malfunctions and the ridiculously hot summer weather, I found out that I liked being on the other side of the camera more than I thought I would. After years of doing senior photos, just about every senior has found out the same thing. Even the guys!
This is a very exciting time in life! Some kids like school, other kids (like myself) do not like school. Don’t get me wrong I love learning, just was not a fan of school. So these photos are either a testament to just how amazing these last 12 years of their life were, or saying goodbye to a period of life they are ready to move on from! Whichever one they find themselves in, it is exciting!
I always encourage my amazing seniors to be themselves. While the studio photos are beautiful, they all look the same to me, and every senior is different. I want to capture that! So if that takes blaring music during the session, or talking about the most random things to get even the shyest senior talking, then that’s what we’ll do!
After last year’s amazing seniors, I cannot wait to see what this year brings when I get back from maternity leave! Speaking of, someone just got up from her morning nap…
